Anthony Kavanagh

As Senior Patent Counsel for Key Patent Innovations, Anthony focuses on developing and implementing our monetization strategies, and managing a legal team responsible for prosecution and development of KPI's global portfolios. He also considers the promise and risk in new business possibilities.

 

Prior to joining Key Patent Innovations, Anthony worked in private practice, in Ireland and the UK, representing large technology and medical device clients. He is well known (by IAM and clients) for obtaining protection for challenging technology, such as AI and security, and for saving patents and applications that ran into trouble. Unsurprisingly, his experience includes a lot of European opposition and appeal proceedings.

 

Before working in patent law, Anthony was a researcher. After completing his PhD in atomic physics in Belfast and Tokyo, he worked for the Institute of Cancer Research and Oxford University. His research projects ranged from developing ion traps for quantum computing to computational optimization of radiotherapy.

 

Anthony is a registered UK and European Patent Attorney, and a certified European Patent Litigator (UPC) with a certificate in Intellectual Property Litigation (UK). He is also a member of the Institute of Physics.
